Open Hours are times when the OpenGrounds Corner Studio is available for those who would like to collaborate with colleagues and meet others in the space. Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to come work in the space, utilize the interactive technology and the white boards that line the studio walls, collaborate with colleagues, discuss projects, and share ideas.

Open Hours Protocol

When you come in, sign in on the white board and tweet @OpenGrounds with a brief description of what you are working on.

OpenGrounds is where you are encouraged to make connections and meet those with shared interests.

Spring Semester Open Hours:

Sunday 2 – 10 pm

Monday 2 – 5 pm ; 7 – 11:30 pm

Tuesday 2 – 4 pm ; 7 – 11:30 pm

Wednesday2 – 5 pm ; 7 – 11:30 pm

Thursday2 – 5 pm ; 7 – 11:30 pm

Friday 2 – 5 pm (2 – 4 pm Idea Exhange)

Idea Exchange

Purpose:
To provide initial feedback and fodder for thought to motivated individuals who have an idea or concept that they want to bring to life. To aid them, OpenGrounds will offer access to its network of experts in various fields.

People:

Who can bring ideas to the table?

We believe that good ideas can come from anywhere. Members of the University (undergraduate or graduate students, faculty, and staff), and members from the Charlottesville community may come to us with ideas, however big or small.

Don’t have an idea but want to make a difference? Drop in, tell us about your interests and skills, and we will try to suggest projects that might interest you.

Who are we?
Our OpenGrounds team consists of interdisciplinary thinkers and dreamers with a variety of interests who can serve as a sounding board and point of connection for the development of new ideas.

Ideas
What kind of ideas are we talking about?

  • envisioning new projects (anything from a website development idea to a fundraiser to a new product),

  • starting new organizations (on-Grounds or community groups),

  • launching new ventures (for-profit or non-profit).
